Ireland’s Katie-George Dunlevy and her pilot Linda Kelly have retained their world title by storming to gold in the women’s B time-trial at the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich this morning.

The Irish duo added another world title to the Paralympic crown they claimed in the same event in Paris earlier this month with a dominant performance across the 29.9km course clocking a time of 43:14.47. They finished 1 minute 9 seconds ahead of Britain’s Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl.

Ireland’s Josephine Healion and her pilot Eve McCrystal finished fourth in a time of 46:24.03.

It’s the fifth time Dunlevy has won gold in this event having partnered with McCrystal for much of her career.

Dunlevy, Kelly, Healion and McCrystal are the first of 24 Irish riders in action across a week of World Championship racing in Zurich.

The two pairings will be back in action on Wednesday when they compete in the women’s B road race.
