Ireland Cricket has been hit with heartbreaking news. On September 5, it was confirmed that all-rounder Simi Singh is battling a severe illness. The Ireland cricketer is dealing with acute liver failure and needs a transplant. His condition has been described as life-threatening, highlighting the seriousness of his health situation.

Simi Singh’s Life-Threatening Illness:  

Simi Singh, who has played 35 ODIs and 53 T20Is for Ireland, is currently in a critical condition. He bowls spin and bats in the lower-middle order. Singh last represented Ireland at the 2022 T20 World Cup. He was seen in a cricket jersey a year ago with Leinster Lightning in the Inter-Pro List A tournament.

Singh is now facing severe health issues, including acute liver failure, and needs a liver transplant. After experiencing health problems in Ireland, he returned to India earlier this summer to seek medical treatment. His condition has been described as life-threatening, which has drawn significant concern.

Cricket Ireland’s Statement:

In this incident, the Ireland Cricket Board gave an official statement. The board said, “We have received shocking news that our friend Simi Singh is currently dealing with life-threatening health circumstances. On behalf of Cricket Ireland, and indeed the wider Irish cricket community, I would like to extend our best wishes and prayers to Simi as he takes on this new fight.”

Later they added, “After moving to Ireland, Simi has become a central figure within Irish cricket – whether at international, provincial or club level – he has shown a desire and drive to succeed. We now hope that this same drive will see him come through the current circumstances.”

His Glorious Career

The Indian-origin Irish player, Simi Singh has taken 39 ODI wickets with an average of 25.92 and a strong economy rate of 3.99. In T20I cricket, he has 44 wickets at an average of 27.84, with an economy rate of 7.61. His performance in both formats has been notable.

In 2021, Singh had a standout year in ODIs, taking 19 wickets at an average of 20.15. He also achieved his highest ODI score that year, scoring an unbeaten 100 off 91 balls in a crucial chase against South Africa.
