Irish Examiner journalist Emer Walsh wins Smurfit Business Award

Emer’s shortlisted work included her interview with IDA chief Michael Lohan, an article on how the Gaza war put Ireland’s investments in the Occupied Territories under the spotlight, and her feature on the enduring popularity of gold as an investment commodity.

The awards, sponsored by Bank of Ireland, recognise excellence in Irish business journalism across the media spectrum. The honours were delivered in conjunction with the Business Journalists Association of Ireland.

The other award winners were: Charlie Weston of the Irish Independent for Business Story of the Year; Conall Ó Móráin, The Media Group for Audio Story of the Year; Jon Ihle of The Sunday Times for Business Feature of the Year; Eoin Burke-Kennedy of The Irish Times was named Business Analyst of the Year; Thomas Hubert of The Currency won Business Interview of the Year, and Catherine Sanz won the Women in Business Journalism Award. 

An Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Brian Carey of The Sunday Times Ireland for his contribution to journalism.
