Irish on Tour: McIlroy and co meet LIV brigade at Dunhill – Irish Golfer Magazine

Must read

Fourteen LIV players will tee it up at the Home of Golf as part of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship played across St. Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie while four Irish are in the field to compete.

The big name this week will be Rory McIlroy and he is joined by Pádraig Harrington, Tom McKibbin and Shane Lowry who will be playing his fourth DP World Tour event in a row.

Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed are the standout LIV stars who are in the field to earn world ranking points this week.

Challenge Tour

This week in the Czech Republic could prove to be a defining one for a whole host of players in the field. The D+D Real Czech Challenge is the final opportunity for the 132 players to punch their ticket to China, for consecutive weeks that follow this one.

As it stands, for those outside the top 71 in the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings, this week marks their last chance to earn the right to play in China and prolong their season. There is all to play for.

Conor Purcell, Dermot McElroy and Gary Hurley are all absent this week while Jonathan Caldwell is lingering dangerously around the bubble at 69th in the Road to Mallorca and needs a good week to keep his season ticking on.

Meanwhile, Stuart Grehan, Paul Dunne, Daniel Mulligan, Cormac Sharvin, John Murphy, Ronan Mullarney, Mark Power, Michael Young, Paul McBride and Conor O’Rourke are in the field.

PGA Tour

Waterford’s Séamus Power is the lone Irishman at the Sanderson Farms Championship at the Country Club of Jackson.
