Joe Molloy is joining the Irish Independent to present a new daily sports podcast, which will launch this autumn.
Seven-time Sports Broadcaster of the Year, Mr Molloy is best known for his work on Off The Ball on Newstalk, a show he has been a presenter of since 2013.
He is also well-known as the host of Virgin Media’s live TV rugby coverage, a role he will continue into the future.
The sports podcast is the latest addition to the growing portfolio of award-winning shows from the Irish Independent. These include The Indo Daily, which has won a series of national and international awards, Real Health with Karl Henry and The Big Tech Show, presented by Adrian Weckler. The most recent addition is the Irish language weekly podcast Seachtain.
In sport, the Irish Independent already offers fans the hugely popular The Left Wing and The Throw-In podcasts on rugby and GAA respectively.
Mediahuis Ireland – the publisher of the Irish Independent – is also the home of the phenomenally successful Crime World, hosted by Nicola Tallant.
Mr Molloy is a native of Kildare. He began working as a researcher in Newstalk in 2008. He worked on The Hard Shoulder current affairs show before later making the transition to sport with Off The Ball.
