Kerry Beattie & Joely Andrews: Hearts sign Northern Ireland internationals

Must read

Northern Ireland internationals Kerry Beattie and Joely Andrews have joined Scottish side Hearts from Women’s Premiership champions Glentoran.

Striker Beattie, who previously had a stint at Glasgow City, was the top scorer in the Women’s Premiership last season.

The 21-year-old has netted three times in 10 Northern Ireland caps.

Andrews scored 14 times from midfield for Glentoran in their title winning campaign.

The 22-year-old has won 20 international caps and scored once.

Both players have signed a two-year deal with the Edinburgh team, who finished fifth in SWPL1 last season.

“Kerry is a proven goalscorer and came across very professional during the negotiations,” said manager Eva Olid.

“We knew immediately that we wanted her to be a part of our journey”.

Olid added that Andrews was a player with “real energy” who can help add goals from midfield.

“The football we want to play requires players to be technically good and while Joely’s ability with the ball is fantastic, what I was really impressed with was her movement off the ball and her desire to work out of possession.”

The pair join international team-mate Lauren Wade in making the switch to Hearts after the winger signed from Reading on Friday.
