Killarney Golf & Fishing Club was thrilled this week to announce its recognition as the ‘Parkland Course of the Year 2024’ at the recent IGTOA National Golf Tourism Conference & Gala Irish Golf Awards.
Held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo, this event is described as a cornerstone of the Irish golf tourism calendar, gathering industry leaders, operators, and service providers to celebrate excellence and promote growth within the sector.
Nestled between the Lakes of Killarney and the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks mountain range, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club is renowned for its two stunning championship courses and world-class Golf Academy. The Killeen course, having hosted the Irish Open on four occasions, is set to welcome the European Amateur Team Championship in 2025.
This prestigious award is the culmination of over five years of dedicated effort and collaboration across all departments at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club.
The achievement, the club said, is not a result of one major leap, but of the steady and sustained contributions from every area of the club, delivering an exceptional experience and helping Killarney rise in the rankings of Golf Digest, Golf Monthly, Irish Golfer Magazine, and Top 100 Golf Courses.
Reflecting on this journey, Colin Finlay, Director of Golf at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, expressed his excitement at the ceremony:
“We are absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this recognition from the IGTOA. It’s a true testament to the dedication of our entire team. This award celebrates not only our golf club but also the wider Killarney community and our contribution to Ireland’s golf tourism.”
