KPMG has announced that they will extend their title sponsorship of the Women’s Irish Open for a further three years extending through 2027.
KPMG has been the title sponsor since the tournament’s revival in 2022 after 10 years on the shelf, and it has quickly become one of the most successful tournaments on the Ladies European Tour schedule, attracting almost 40,000 spectators to Carton House last year after the first two stagings at Dromoland Castle in County Clare.
Having taken place in late August and September in each of the three renewals, the 2025 edition of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open will take place in the first week of July in the hopes of attracting more of the game’s big stars the week ahead of the Amundi Evian Championship, one of five major championships in the women’s game, held in France.
Last year, the tournament brought an estimated €4.6 million to the Irish economy, with €7 million in direct spending in food and beverage, accommodation, construction and to other utility providers, and hopes are high that this will continue to grow over the coming three years.
As well as partnering with Leona Maguire, KPMG also invest in grass roots golf with the KPMG Iirsh Kids Golf Tour, and are the title sponsors of the Women’s PGA Championship in the United States.
“We are incredibly proud to extend our sponsorship of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open as we continue to support golf, and women’s sport in Ireland,” said Stephen King, Partner at KPMG Ireland. “The tournament’s resurgence has been remarkable, and we are delighted to see its positive impact extend beyond the golf course, into the surrounding communities. It was fantastic to see how many young girls and boys attended this year’s tournament and we hope the KPMG Women’s Irish Open continues to be a source of inspiration to them over the coming years.”
Forefront Sports, the event manager for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, has also welcomed the news and believes that the three-year extension will provide a platform for further growth.
“It’s wonderful to see a global brand like KPMG committing further to growing and supporting women’s golf in Ireland and it marks an amazing vote of confidence in the sport that they have decided to continue with the partnership,” said Cian Branigan, CEO of Forefront. “We look forward to working closely with KPMG over the next three years, continuing to provide a world-class platform on which to showcase some of the best golfing talent from Ireland and across the globe.”
