Leinster sweat over fitness of four players for crunch clash with La Rochelle

Leinster are hopeful that Garry Ringrose, Jimmy O’Brien, Cian Healy and Charlie Ngatai will all be fit for Saturday evening’s Champions Cup quarter-final clash with La Rochelle at the Aviva Stadium.

Centres Ringrose (shoulder) and Ngatai (calf), and versatile back-three player O’Brien (calf) will be further assessed across the course of this week before a final decision is made on their availability.

Veteran prop Healy, who could set a new record of 111 tournament appearances having equalled Ronan O’Gara’s long-standing mark last weekend, is in a similar boat with the leg injury that forced him off in the latter stages of last weekend’s win over Leicester.

In better news, Andrew Porter, Robbie Henshaw, Hugo Keenan and Ciarán Frawley came through the game on Saturday without any issues following recent knocks, while scrum-half Luke McGrath, who missed the Tigers win, has completed the graduated return-to-play protocols and will return to full training this week.

James Ryan (arm), Tommy O’Brien (hamstring) and Alex Soroka (foot) remain sidelined.
