Acclaimed accordion star Liam O’Connor has a busy time ahead on the music front, including two new recordings, live concerts at home and abroad, a prestigious awards ceremony and a celebration ball.
Yet another accolade is about to be snapped up by the Killarney based multi-instrumentalist who will be honoured with the Man of the Year Award by Hi Style.
The award citation for Liam to his outstanding contribution to music, culture and the entertainment industry in Ireland and globally.
This follows only weeks after Liam and his family and band members Saoirse (vocals, concertina and keyboards), Oisín, (guitars, keyboards and percussion) and Cillian (drums) received the Irish and International Traditional Band of the Year Award on a night showcasing the best in Irish Entertainment at the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran, Co Donegal.
The accordion maestro and his talented family band are also lined up for a performance at the prestigious Olympic Ball at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin net weekend.
This will be Team Ireland’s celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympic athletes and their stunning achievements.
“What a privilege it will be for myself and my family to be part of such a joyous occasion,” said Liam.
On the international scene, Liam will be kicking up a desert storm in Dubai as part of Kerry GAA’s visit there from November 21-24.
On the record-making front, Liam will be in full flow on a new recording of The Galway Shawl to be released in collaboration with popular singer Mike Denver and, if that isn’t enough to keep his army of fans happy, the hardest working man on the Irish music scene has a new instrumental single coming out in a couple weeks.
