IRISH golf fans have reason to be excited after learning some of Shane Lowry’s stats for the 2024 PGA Tour season.
The Offaly star is also one of JUST 13 players to make the cut at all four majors during the 2024 season.
The figures mark exciting times for the Irishman as he heads for La Golf National next week for the Olympic Golf Tournament.
The 2019 Open champion admitted that winning an a medal at the Paris 2024 Games for his country was a priority for the year.
37-year-old Lowry finished 6th at last week’s Open, and in reality should have gone on to win the event but a horror third round cost him in windy tough conditions at Royal Troon.
Prior to that he finished T43 at the Masters, T6 at the USPGA [Included a record low score in a major] and T19 at the US Open -three of the four major course this year would also be looked upon as some of the toughest.
And Lowry’s aggregate scoring over all-four majors during the 2024 campaign was a total of -6, that’s fifth on the rankings compiled by Golf Digest.
The criteria is from players who made the cut in every major on the season, and world number 26 was behind Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffelle, Colin Morikawa and Russell Henley.
FEDEX CUP FORM
He form of the regular PGA Tour Fed Ex Cup standings has seen him land a career-best placing on the points ladder.
The Irishman has comfortably qualified for the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time in his career, and boasts six top-10 finishes on tour this season.
Lowry sits tenth place on the ladder with just two events before the playoffs start at the St Jude Classic.
The top 70 players in the FedExCup standings are eligible for the FedExCup Playoffs with the three events featuring a progressive cut with fields of 70 (FedEx St. Jude Championship), 50 (BMW Championship) and 30 (TOUR Championship).
Next week’s Olympic host venue Le Golf National has also been the primary venue for the French Open (now the Open de France), a European Tour event, since 1991.
The Albatros course has been frequently used for France’s number on pro golf event.
Offaly star Lowry has mixed results on the course from past French Opens when he was primarily on the DP World Tour.
Lowry, who finished 22nd at Tokyo 2021 is in a position to drastically improve upon that result next week in Paris.
The men’s event takes place from 1-4 August.
