Plans to open in the Republic of Ireland are in motion for 2025.

Corrib Oil Service Station has reached an agreement with the legendary fast-food chain to become its franchise partner in Ireland.

And the initial site locations across the country are set to be announced in the new year.

It will include standalone Wendy’s restaurants and new offerings at Corrib Oil Service Station site locations.

And a recruitment campaign for the 300 new jobs will also be launched in early 2025.

The company re-entered the UK in 2021 and expects to see up to 50 restaurants across the pond by year-end.

Known and loved for its square beef patties, other favourites include chilli, baked potatoes and their Frosty dessert.

Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, opened the first Wendy’s restaurant in 1969, and the Wendy’s cameo character is now recognisable globally.

President International of Wendy’s Company, EJ Wunsch, has said that Ireland is a great market for the fast-food chain’s long-term growth.

He added: “With a proven track record of outstanding operations and a significant growth history, we are confident that Corrib Oil is the right partner to drive Wendy’s expansion in Ireland.”

Corrib Oil has 38 convenience stores currently in operation in Ireland.

It employs 1,150 people across 18 depots, growing to 1,450 with the new partnership.

Corrib Oil chief executive, Eugene Dalton said: “This collaboration brings together two brands that share a commitment to quality, community and exceptional customer experience.

He added: “The opportunity to bring such a globally recognised brand as Wendy’s to Ireland offers a new food experience for Irish customers.”

Wendy’s has over 7,200 restaurants worldwide, with more than 1,200 operations located outside of the US.

Michael Clarke, the Managing Director for Wendy’s Europe, said, “It’s an exciting time to be part of the Wendy’s team in Europe.

“Brand fans and customers continue to ask us, ‘Where is Wendy’s opening next?’

“We are ready to answer the demand by bringing more Wendy’s to more people – putting our fresh, high-quality and delicious food into the hands of European consumers where they live, work and play.”

Mr Wunsch added: “We are continuing our journey to become a brand of increased global significance, and Europe is a high-priority, strategic growth market to expand Wendy’s presence internationally.

“To accelerate our momentum, we are focused on building relationships with franchisees who share our ambition to grow and scale Wendy’s restaurant footprint across the continent.”
