85 Irish-based jobs at PayPal are at risk, as the company have announced another round of redundancies.
The payment company announced 205 redundancies back in February, with the company also announcing that they were closing their Dundalk offices last March.
Now, PayPal have said that they are cutting a further 85 of their 1,600 jobs in Ireland, with the redundancies set to occur after a consultation period.
‘The proposed changes are subject to consultation, and no redundancies will take effect until after a consultation process has concluded,’ a spokesperson for PayPal said.
‘PayPal is committed to ensuring that colleagues who leave under the proposed changes are treated fairly. It is offering discretionary enhanced redundancy and support packages to help them as they move to the next step in their careers.’
Despite the redundancies, PayPal said that they ‘remain committed to Ireland and its role as a critical hub for the company’s global operations,’ and that they are ‘making progress on its strategic transformation announced earlier this year.’
The company had announced 63 redundancies after closing their Dundalk offices, while those who remained with the company were moved to remote working.
They announced plans to cut around 2,500 jobs — roughly 9% of its global workforce — earlier this year, in addition to cutting 2,000 jobs — approximately 7% of its global workforce in January 2023.
