New Ross duo take Audi Ireland Quattro Cup honours – Irish Golfer Magazine

Audi Waterford golfers Patsy Farrell and Sean Murphy members of New Ross Golf Club, were crowned champions of the 2024 Audi Ireland quattro Cup. 54 teams of two participated in this year’s Audi Ireland quattro Cup National Final, hosted at the luxurious Portmarnock Hotel and Jameson Golf Links.

Patsy Farrell and Sean Murphy, qualifiers from the Audi Waterford regional event, navigated the fiercely competitive playing field to secure the top spot with a final score of 45 points. In second place was Aidan Cowan and Kevin Walsh also from the Audi Waterford regional qualifier with 42 points, and in third place, Fergus O’Brien and Noel O’Connor from the Audi Wexford regional secured 40 points.

The Audi Ireland quattro Cup National Final is the culmination of the Irish leg of the season, which saw nine regional qualifiers taking place at some of Ireland’s leading Championship golf clubs with over 1,000 amateur golfers from across the country competing for the ultimate honour of representing Ireland at the 2024 World Final. The top six teams from each regional final were given the opportunity to go forward to compete at the National Final and play at the prestigious Portmarnock Golf Club a course which has hosted the Irish Open nineteen times and hopeful host of The Open in the near future. Portmarnock Golf Club is natural links, with water on three sides, the course forever at the mercy of the wind, in November 2023 Portmarnock was voted 59th in the top 100 golf courses in the world by GOLF!

The competition took place during the day with harsh conditions for players with both strong wind and rain, a gala dinner and prize-giving took place in the evening. M.C on the night, Audi Ireland Brand Ambassador and former Irish Rugby Player Rob Kearney hosted a captivating conversation with special guests and former teammates, Audi Ireland Brand Ambassador and Ireland Rugby player, Garry Ringrose and Audi Galway Brand Ambassador and Ireland Rugby Player Bundee Aki.  Guests were captivated as Rob, Bundee and Garry reminisced over World Cup highlights and lowlights, overseas tests, training camp insights and Six Nation triumphs.

The Audi quattro Cup World Final offers finalists from 38 countries across the world, including Ireland, a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit and play on a World Top 100 golf course on the pristine Indian Ocean coastline of Oman, against a backdrop of the Hajar mountains.

The Audi quattro Cup is a team-based competition with each team consisting of two players and is open to Audi customers and their chosen teammate.  The maximum handicap is 36 (index) per player and 56 (index) per team. The handicap difference between the players in a team must not exceed 20.
