Newbridge cybersecurity expert wins gong at Tech Excellence Awards 2024

Stryve’s Paul Delahunty of Newbridge, Kildare has been named CIO of the Year at the Tech Excellence Awards 2024. 

Paul Delahunty is Chief Information Security Officer at Stryve, a global multi-cloud cybersecurity and managed IT services company headquartered in MERITS Kildare. 

The Tech Excellence Awards represent the most prestigious achievements across the technology sector. According to organisers, It recognises “top-level individuals or businesses who are the pioneers” of the industry and its people. 

Celebrating its 22nd year The Tech Excellence Awards, culminated in a black-tie gala event at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, last night on May 23rd 2024. 

Paul was shortlisted in two categories, CIO of the Year and IT Professional of the Year. Stryve Ireland’s Managing Director, Gillian Moody was up for Person of the Year whilst Stryve was in the running for Managed Security Service Provider of the Year. On the night, it was Paul who collected the prize. 

A CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) with 15 years of experience in information security, Paul is a multi-award-winning InfoSec expert and certified DORA compliance specialist. 

Beyond this, Paul is well-known within the industry for his contributions to advocacy for improved national cybersecurity, education and EU and Government policy. 

Among his recent achievements that contributed to the judge’s decision to name Paul Delahunty as CIO of the Year is co-founding the South East Chapter of Cyber Ireland and hosting free events and webinars about hot topics in the cybersecurity sector. 

In his role as CISO at Stryve, Paul’s goal is to foster a cyber security-awareness culture in businesses across Ireland and the EU. Paul is one of the primary media contributors to the upcoming EU legislation Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) that comes into effect in January 2025.
