As the world of golf turns its attention to Northern Ireland ahead of The Open Championship at Royal Portrush, Tourism NI has partnered with Northern Ireland Screen’s Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund to refresh its golf itineraries video series, showcasing the region’s top courses and rich Ulster-Scots heritage.
Following the success of the 2019 content series produced for the Irish Open at Royal County Down, Tourism NI has once again collaborated with NPE Media to update the original golfing itineraries. This time, they have also joined forces with Northern Ireland Screen’s Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund to spotlight the historical and cultural ties between the region and the origins of golf in Northern Ireland.
The new series, consisting of six short videos, offers touring golfers a guide to Northern Ireland’s most scenic and prestigious courses alongside local attractions and accommodations, many of which have strong Ulster-Scots connections. Each video covers a different region—Heart of Down, The West, Derry/Londonderry, Belfast, the Causeway Coast, and the Ards Peninsula. Highlights include the Titanic Quarter, the Ulster American Folk Park, and the historic Drenagh Estate in Limavady.
“We are delighted to support this project in tandem with Tourism NI, which not only showcases our world-class golf courses but also highlights the deep cultural connections that Ulster-Scots heritage has with the sport,” said Heidi McAlpin, Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund Executive, “These videos will showcase a unique blend of history, hospitality, and sport that Northern Ireland has to offer.”
Broadcaster Graham Little returns to host the series, with artwork by Susanna Banks and filming and editing by Damien Gallagher.
The refreshed video series is available on Tourism NI’s website and will be shared across their social media channels. For more information and to explore the updated itineraries, visit: Golf Itineraries | Discover Northern Ireland.
