Shayne Lavery celebrates scoring for Blackpool

Northern Ireland international Shayne Lavery is on the lookout for a new club after Blackpool confirmed that the striker will leave them at the expiry of his contract.

The 25-year-old’s three-year stay with the League One side has come to an end after the club revealed they would not be extending his deal beyond the current season.

Lavery has been a central figure at Bloomfield Road since joining them from Linfield in 2021 when they were then in the Championship, and will leave having made 105 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals.

This past season, despite struggling with injury problems, the nine times capped Northern Ireland forward would make 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals, as Blackpool finished eighth in the third division.

However, the former Everton trainee has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Neil Critchley and will depart for pastures new in the summer, though he will likely have plenty of suitors.

While a move home to Northern Ireland may appeal for the ex-Glenavon and Linfield man, there will surely be offers from English and Scottish sides for an international striker with plenty of experience.
