NEW ROSS SENIORS
The conditions on Thursday were good weatherwise overhead but rather heavy on the ground. This was only to be expected after all the light rain and drizzle we experienced over the previous few days, with little or no wind to help drying out the course.
We reverted to a 14-hole competition and it was a good decision with light fading early in the afternoon. There were a few late withdrawals for one reason or another, leaving a number of three-person teams who immediately were at a disadvantage in the scoring stakes. Thankfully, this time around there were no complaints of slow play which was a bugbear in previous weeks.
Again, Martin Burke disqualified one team for incorrect handicaps on their scorecard. All players should check their current handicap on the sheet provided in the old Pro Shop prior to play every Thursday.
Keeping to all rules and regulations, the team of Eddie Keher, Dan Quigley, Liam Glasheen and Martin Burke took the day’s honours with a fine score of 85 points.
Second on 84 points were Tony Redmond, Richie Aylward, Frank Boyle and Paddy O’Shea. Third prize went to Michael Kavanagh, Willie Naddy, Seán Ó hUiginn and Larry Miskella with 80 points.
A reminder that our AGM will be held after golf on Thursday, November 28. Please send motions for the meeting to Martin Burke on 086-2669836 or to burkenr@gmail.com before Monday, November 25. The AGM is the place to voice your opinion about the direction our group should take in the future.
