Paris 2024: Irish in action on Day 13 of Olympic Games

Must read

With the number of Irish athletes competing at the Olympics in Paris beginning to wind down, Day 13 will see the first Irish athlete to qualify for the Games make her debut.

Kate O’Connor qualified via the quota system by one place, going down to the last day of the qualification period to see if she would make it.

The Dundalk athlete won silver in the Commonwealth Games in 2022 following a successful rise through the junior rankings.

The 23-year-old secured her position for Paris by having her highest scoring competition, since her Commonwealth medal winning exploits, in Germany at the end of June.

Meanwhile, Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow will be back out on the golf course for the second round of the women’s singles tournament.

Both Irish golfers are T50 and have work to do after shooting +6 in the opening round of the tournament.
