The XXXIII Olympiad continues in Paris on Thursday with the biggest ever Irish team already bringing home a record number of medals and looking to add to it over the remaining days of competition.
The first member of Team Ireland to compete on what is a quiet day thirteen is Kate O’Connor who starts her first event in the Women’s Heptathlon with the 100m Hurdles at 9.05am.
The only other Irish competitors are taking part in the Women’s Golf tournament with Leona Maguire out at 9.22am alongside Britain’s Georgia Hall and Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa. The Cavan star is well down the field at six over after a rough opening day.
Stephanie Meadow sits on the same score and goes out with Perrine Delacour of France and Belgium’s Manon De Roey at 9.55am.
Heptathlete Kate O’Connor is back for her second discipline, the High Jump at 10.05am. O’Connor then has a long break before the Shot Put at 6.35pm and she rounds off day one of the event with the 200m at 7.55pm.

The two-time Olympic champions goes into retirement with her legacy assured as one of the country’s greatest ever Olympians and Sean McGoldrick, Sinead Kissane and Cathal Dennehy all have pieces from the ground in Paris celebrating her achievement.
Day twelve saw mixed fortunes on the track with Sarah Lavin and Mark English both producing superb runs to progress directly into the Women’s 100m Hurdles and Men’s 800m semi-finals.
On the other hand, Sarah Healy and Sophie O’Sullivan were left rueing their luck after missing out on progression to the semi-finals by a single place for the second day in a row in their 1500m repechage heats while Brian Fay finished well down the field in the Men’s 5000m heat.
Sean also reports on Jack Wooley’s defeat in the Men’s Taekwondo and has details on how the Tallaght fighter has a second chance to go after a bronze medal tonight in the repechage.
