Popular fashion chain Born has been granted planning permission for a new store in Laois

The new outlet in the Barrow Valley Retail Park, Graiguecullen, is expected to create 30 full and part-time jobs.

The application, lodged by Camgill Property a Sé Limited, sought permission for the change of use from a retail warehouse to retail use at Unit 2 of the park. The current building is vacant and was most recently occupied by  B&J Tiles and Bathrooms.
Born has 23 outlets all over Ireland including a store in Laois Shopping Centre in Portlaoise.

In Graiguecullen, Born intends to operate a clothing and furniture retail unit similar to their outlet at Monread Road District Centre in Naas.

“The proposed development aims to support and enhance the provision of retail shopping provision within Graiguecullen at an acceptable size and scale which improves the competitiveness of Graiguecullen  while complementing the retail offering of Carlow Town without undermining it,” the planning document stated.

“Once operational the proposed unit will have the potential to generate additional employment around 30 additional jobs on a part and full time basis in the store. The proposed development is a significant investment in Graiguecullen which will likely lead to associated spin-off employment resulting in and further contributing to increases in overall spending within the area.”

The application was granted permission by Laois County Council with 12 conditions attached.
