Rising Northern Ireland star Callum Marshall on target for Huddersfield in debut

Callum Marshall is on a season-long loan at Huddersfield

Northern Ireland striker Callum Marshall scored on his debut for Huddersfield Town in their 3-0 League Cup win over Morecambe.

Marshall joined the EFL League One side on a season-long loan.

He opened his account in the 38th minute and then claimed an assist for Danny Ward’s finish before half-time.

A prolific goalscorer since joining the West Ham Academy in January 2022, he is continuing his development at the Terriers under the guidance of former Northern Ireland defender Michael Duff.

Former Linfield youngster Marshall has made four senior appearances for his country since making his debut in Denmark in the summer of 2023.

In the Irish League, Portadown have signed midfielder Ben Wylie from Cliftonville.

The Belfast Telegraph understands a deal has been completed to take the former Northern Ireland Under-21 player from Solitude to Shamrock Park.

Wylie (22) joined the north Belfast club earlier this year in January and will now hope to make an impact at newly promoted Portadown having played in Sweden in 2023 with Ytterhogdals IK. As a 16-year-old Wylie left Linfield for Celtic where he was unfortunate with injuries.

He had loan spells at Ballymena United and Airdrie during his time at Parkhead and last year showed his quality in Sweden after leaving the Hoops behind to play regular first team football.

Wylie is the latest new arrival at Portadown in what has been a busy summer for boss Niall Currie.

Another player linked with the newly promoted side is winger Josh Ukek who has been with Bala Town and has impressed on trial.

Jay Boyd re-joined Loughgall on a season-long-loan from Crusaders.

Boyd spent the first half of last season with the Villagers, scoring seven goals in 22 appearances.

In January he penned a three-year deal with the north Belfast club.

The 21-year-old scored 30 goals for the Under-20s during his impressive progress at Seaview.
