Robbie Starts As Ireland End Hungary’s Unbeaten Run

Must read

Robbie Brady played 62 minutes for Republic of Ireland in their 2-1 victory over Hungary.

North End’s No.11 – who featured 32 times in the 2023/24 season – was in from the start to earn a 63rd cap for his country.

Still under the interim care of John O’Shea, the Boys in Green were facing a Hungary side who hadn’t been beaten in their previous 14 outings.

Ireland took the lead in the 36th minute through Adam Idah but were soon pegged back just four minutes later, as Adam Lang levelled for the visitors in a preparation friendly for EURO 2024.

After Robbie was substituted just following the hour mark, Ireland had some late defending to do, before an opportunity opened itself up in the second minute of stoppage-time for former PNE loanee Troy Parrott to tuck away a one-on-one and win the game.

Next up for Ireland is a trip to Aveiro to take on Portugal on Tuesday 11th June for a 7.45pm kick-off.
