ROY KEANE revealed Republic of Ireland players enjoyed a ‘brilliant’ night out in London before the 1994 World Cup.
USA ’94 was Jack Charlton‘s side second World Cup, four years after their first at Italia ’90.
Kean was not part of the team in 1990, he played in every game four years later, including the infamous 1-0 win over Italy.
During the latest episode of ‘Stick To Football’, presented by Sky Bet, the 52-year-old revealed that the team went on a night out in London in the build-up to the competition.
He rhetorically asked his fellow footie legends: “Did you ever sneak out with the team? I used to love that.”
The former Ireland and Manchester United captain added: “We’ve done it with United and we done it with Ireland.
“You are going back on the bus and you are at an official function. You ask if anyone is sneaking out.
“So about ten players go yeah, yeah. So you say we’ll meet in ten minutes by a certain lift and then only two or three turn up!
“I used to love all that stuff.
“We done it one night in London with Ireland. I think we were doing something at the Irish Embassy. It might have been before the 1994 World Cup.
“Back to the hotel and a few of us snuck out, the Irish lads. I think we ended up in Stringfellows. What night we had. Brilliant night.”
Roy Keane had been in Germany for Euro 2024 which ended with England suffering a 2-1 defeat to Spain in the final.
The Corkman was on punditry duty for ITV for the tournament, leading to one awkward moment with a staffer which was recounted on Stick To Football.
Gary Neville explained: “The funniest thing yesterday – someone tried to carry his [Roy’s] clothes in from the car to the studio.
“As they came up to him at the studio his pants slipped off the rail.
“[Roy went] ‘OH MY GOD! That’s why I should f******g carry my own rail. That’s why I should carry them myself.'”
Keane, 52, leapt to his own defence, but admitted that he doesn’t need pandering after and wouldn’t have made the mistake himself.
He said: “There’s people here obviously to help us and they’re really helpful.
“But you get out of the car and you’ve got a little bag and they’re going ‘I’ll carry your bag’ – I can carry the bag!”
He jokingly added: “I don’t want people helping me, I just want to look after my own stuff.
“Because what happens is when people take your stuff off you, they’re dead blasé with it and my pants are all over the floor.
“But I wouldn’t have dropped my pants. And people are walking all over my pants!”
Keane didn’t stop his rant there either, adding: “People are really helpful, but it’s ridiculous.
“I can do it. ‘Do you want a cup of tea?’ – I can make my own tea!”
