RTÉ Sport has revealed the nine nominees for the RTÉ Sport Team of the Year award ahead of next week’s awards ceremony.
Joanne Cantwell, Darragh Maloney and Jacqui Hurley will present the awards ceremony from Studio 4 in RTÉ on Sunday, 15 December, with the action broadcast live on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player from 9.30pm.
The awards being handed out on the night in front of an audience of Irish sports stars include the RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year, the RTÉ Sport Team of the Year, the RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year and the RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year.
The nominees are:
CLARE – HURLING
Clare became All-Ireland champions this year with their win over Cork, earning a fifth title for the Banner and first since 2013.
ARMAGH – FOOTBALL
Armagh took home Sam Maguire for the second time, following their win over Galway.
KERRY – WOMEN’S FOOTBALL
Kerry became All-Ireland champions this year with their win over Galway, earning a 12th title for the county.
CORK – CAMOGIE
Cork were crowned All-Ireland champions after their win over Galway.
SHELBOURNE – SOCCER
Shelbourne became SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Men’s Premier Division champions for the first time in 18 years.
IRELAND – RUGBY
Ireland retained their Six Nations title this year.
PAUL O’DONOVAN & FINTAN MCCARTHY – ROWING
Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy defended their Olympic title in lightweight double sculls at the Olympics in Paris.
KATIE GEORGE DUNLEAVY & LINDA KELLY – PARA-CYCLING
The duo team took home gold and silver medals at Paris 2024 and are double world champions.
IRELAND 4X400M MIXED RELAY TEAM – ATHLETICS
Rhasidat Adeleke, Sharlene Mawdsley, Christopher O’Donnell and Thomas Barr earned gold at the European Championships in Rome.
