Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus on Tuesday named a 39-man squad for the upcoming two-Test home series against Ireland and one-off encounter against Portugal.

Erasmus, who also picked an additional 14 players to be on a standby list, was able to recall several stalwarts who weren’t available for last weekend’s 41-13 win over Wales at Twickenham.

This was because the match fell outside World Rugby’s Test window, while players from the Bulls were also not available as they played in the URC final.
