Thousands of people gathered at the GPO on O’Connell Street for the homecoming of the Irish Olympics heroes. RTÉ News (Monday, 12pm) showed the whole thing live, from the musical build-up to the main event, to give people who couldn’t make it a chance to share the experience at home.
Nah, only kidding. Of course they didn’t. Footage of the event played silently on the side of the screen while, in studio, there was more interminable talk from the invited pundits, basically repeating the same things they’ve been saying on air for weeks now.
