America’s Xander Schauffele has won the 152nd Open Championship golf.

He carded a final round of 65 to end on 9-under-par at Royal Troon.

The Claret Jug is his second major title this season following victory in the PGA Championship.

2019 champion Shane Lowry finished up on 4-under, solo sixth on the leaderboard.

Padraig Harrington finished up on 4-over-par while Tom McKibbin was 12-over with Darren Clarke 15-over-par.

Cork and Clare are level at 3-21 to 1-27 after full-time in the All-Ireland hurling final.

The teams are preparing for extra-time, with Patrick Horgan’s free ensuring there is 20 more minutes. There will be a replay if the sides are level after extra-time.

The Republic of Ireland were eliminated from the European Women’s under-19 Championships this afternoon after a 2-0 group loss to The Netherlands in Lithuania.

Formula One

Oscar Piastri has won Formula One’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Australian clinched his maiden race victory ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris – who started on pole.

Lewis Hamilton finished third in the Mercedes.

Tour de France

Tadej Pogacar is set to clinch his third Tour de France this afternoon.

The 25-year-old will add to his 2020 and 2021 victories following the final stage from Monaco to Nice.

The Slovenian will become the first rider this century to win both the Tour and the Giro d’Italia in the same year.
