A ghost of the political past emerged to meet Micheál Martin in East Africa. He bumped into Mick Stone, the wealthy head of the Designer Group, who became embroiled in row over some of his workers putting up a handful of posters for Paschal Donohoe in Dublin Central during an election campaign.
Mr Stone was formerly a staunch supporter of Bertie Ahern when the ex-taoiseach bestrode Dublin Central. Mr Martin moved to expel Mr Ahern from the party in the wake of the Mahon Tribunal findings, but he has since re-joined.
