Three uncapped players named in Ireland squad for Basketball World Cup qualifiers

Must read

Neptune’s Darragh O’Sullivan joins his brother Conor in the squad after returning to the Super League this season following five years in the United States – four of which were under former Neptune head coach Billy Mimms at Florida Tech.

James Connaire and James Hannigan are both in line for their senior international bows once more, having been part of the training squad during the August friendly series with Denmark in Dublin, but missing out on the final 12-man roster for the games.

Roy Downey also returns to the Ireland squad, who sit bottom of Group A following a 83-76 defeat against Kosovo and an 86-63 loss to Switzerland.

The group winner will advance to the second round of qualifying alongside the best ranked second-placed team from three groups.
