Irish League grounds fell silent this afternoon in memory of referee Keith Kennedy.
A minute’s silence was observed before all matches.
The 33-year-old official died suddenly while in Colombia on Tuesday.
The cause of his death is not yet known.
The father-of-one has been described as ‘one of life’s good guys’.
A referee since 2007, Mr Kennedy had been officiating in the Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) for over a decade, and had officiated several games this season.
A death notice described Mr Kennedy as a “dear husband and daddy”, “dearly loved son” and “much loved brother”.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed, but the family has asked that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, which is assisting in returning Mr Kennedy’s remains.
The notice added: “To know him was to love him. Gone but not forgotten.”
The Foreign Office confirmed it is “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Colombia and are in contact with the local authorities”.
