Tommy Fleetwood has swapped the player’s badge for a caddie bib this week as he caddies for his stepson at the Challenge Tour’s UAE Challenge in Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
The Englishman is looping for 17-year-old English amateur Oscar Craig who has made a great start, opening with a three-under 69 to sit in a share of 14th place with Portmarnock’s Conor Purcell and just four shots off the lead.
Craig who is based in Dubai holds a World Amateur Golf Ranking of 429, making him the 13th highest ranked English amateur in the world.
Craig was bogey free in round one, rolling in birdies on the 4th, 8th and 18th.
The teenager has won two amateur events in the UAE this year with five top-4 finishes in as many starts. In total he has three wins in twelve months
Fleetwood has enjoyed a good season so far, winning the Dubai Invitational in February and posting his highest finish at the Masters with a third place result earlier this month.
The Englishman has had long time caddie Ian Finnis absent in recent weeks due to illness.
