THERE’S a major warning for commuters as a road collision on a busy motorway causes huge delays this morning.
A collision on the M1/N1 northbound has blocked all lanes entirely, with drivers warned to use a “different route” for their journey.
Traffic chaos ensued this morning on the M1/N1 northbound between Junction 18 (N52) Carlingford and Junction 19 Ravensdale due to a collision.
The TII Motorway Traffic Control Centre published their congestion report this morning as workers made their way to the capital city.
They said: “Between J18 (N52) Carlingford and J19 Ravensdale.
“Road closure due to a collision. All lanes are affected.
“Significant delays to your journey will likely occur. Please use a different route for your journey.”
Motorists are currently being advised to avoid the route while travelling this morning.
There are a number of other routes experiencing delays this morning that could hold commuters up on their journey to work.
On the M50, heavy congestion is expected between Junction 3 M1/M50 and Junction 4, Ballymun, Dublin, after a breakdown involving a heavy goods vehicle.
The TII warned: “When approaching the breakdown location, drive with caution and reduce your speed.
“Some delays to your journey may occur.”
IRISH RAIL DELAYS
Unfortunately commuters opting to use rail services are also experiencing delays this morning.
Taking to social media Irish Rail said: “The 07:05 Tralee to Heuston service is operating approximately 25 minutes late due to an operational issue.
“The 08:00 Belfast to Connolly service has been terminared at Portadown due to a technical issue.
“Passengers will be accommodated on the 09:00 Belfast to Connolly service. 10:50 Connolly to Belfast services has been cancelled.”
