Ireland striker Troy Parrott has opened his goalscoring account with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in sensational style with four goals in Saturday night’s Eredivisie win over SC Heerenveen.
The 22-year-old Dubliner, who has played five games so far for Alkmaar since his summer move from Tottenham Hotspur, was possibly in need of a goal to kickstart his career, following a successful loan spell at Excelsior last season.
However, Parrott played his part in a 9-1 demolition of Heerenveen with a four-goal haul, eventually being replaced in the 75th minute.
Parrott’s remarkable tally also included an eight-minute hat-trick.
He also became the first Irishman to score a hat-trick in the Eredivisie.
