Two pedestrians in hospital following separate collisions in Dublin

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after an incident with a car in Dublin this morning.

The accident happened at 7.20am on the Phibsboro Road and the male pedestrian was taken to hospital.

The Cabra Road was fully closed with emergency services on the scene, but has since reopened in both directions. However, the inbound bus lane remains closed.

In a separate incident overnight, a second person was taken to hospital after a serious road traffic collision on the N81 in Tallaght.

The incident happened shortly before midnight and involved a car and a pedestrian. The male pedestrian has been taken to Tallaght University hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are understood to be non-life threatening.

The N81 (Tallaght Bypass) near Tallaght Stadium remains closed and gardaí are at the scene conducting a technical examination of the scene.

A garda spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing.”

Motorists in Dublin can expect delays as a result, with diversions in place at the junctions of N81-Fortunestown Road and N81-Citywest Road.

Another crash took place this morning on the M50 southbound between Junction 6, Blanchardstown, and Junction 7, Lucan.

The incident has since been cleared but commuters should expect delays in the area.
