Google has announced the appointment of Vanessa Hartley as the new Head of Google Ireland.
Ms Hartley will take up the role immediately and succeeds Adaire Fox-Martin.
She joined Google Ireland in 2014 and over the past ten years she has held senior EMEA roles within the Global Business Organisation and Strategy and Operations teams.
Since 2022, Ms Hartley has served as VP and leader of the EMEA sales teams.
Prior to Google, Vanessa was Commercial Director of GloHealth and Group Marketing Director for Aviva Ireland.
“I’m delighted Vanessa is the new Head of Google Ireland where she will oversee our thriving campus of more than 5,000 Googlers, two data centres and continued growing investment,” said Matt Brittin, President of Google EMEA.
“Her experience will be invaluable as we continue to help Irish people, communities and businesses succeed and make the most of AI,” Mr Brittin said.
Ms Hartley said she was both humbled and excited to lead Google Ireland into the next phase of its evolution, building on its two-decade history in Ireland.
“Making AI helpful for everyone, in a responsible way, will be my top priority in this new role,” Ms Hartley said.
Google’s European Headquarters are based in Ireland with a total workforce of more than 9,000 people, around 5,000 of them are directly employed by Google.
In February 2023, the company cut 240 Irish-based jobs as part of global layoffs and in September 2023, Google announced further cuts in its recruitment teams.
