Vision Ireland store in Kildare town reopens following flood damage

Michael Costello, who is partially sighted, works at the Vision Ireland store in Kildare town.

Michael began working there in October of 2021, deciding to take on the role following an isolating winter in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

The lockdown really impacted Michael — “Everything I was involved in stopped within 48 hours,” he said.

Michael has since really enjoyed his experience of working in the Kildare town shop and said that it is ‘marvellous’ to see it reopen following the repairs.

He marked the reopening alongside his guide dog, Earl.

Also speaking at the opening was Tara Healy, Retail Area Manager with Vision Ireland.

Tara said: “The team and the local community are incredibly excited to see the Kildare store back in action.

“As with all Vision Ireland stores, this is much more than a place to shop for amazing pre-loved items and support people living with blindness or sight loss.

“It is also a community hub, and our community has truly missed having us.”

“We are really looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming everyone back,” she concluded.

Donations can be accepted at the Kildare town store or at any other Vision Ireland, or NCBI shop around Ireland.
