Racegoers and racing fans alike are being asked to help choose the 2024 Racecourse of the Year. This year’s winner will be announced at the annual Horse Racing Ireland Awards in Dublin early next month.
All 26 racecourses are eligible and the online poll will equate to 50% of the overall votes.
Encouraging everyone to have their say, Suzanne Eade, CEO of Horse Racing Ireland, commented: “For this year’s Horse Racing Ireland Awards, we are asking racegoers and racing fans to help choose the winners in two categories. Their input will be a significant factor in determining the Racecourse of the Year.
“The racecourses themselves will each have a vote, and our own committee will contribute by judging each racecourse on its sustainability awareness with topics considered to include energy efficiency upgrades, renewable energy programs, emissions reduction, biodiversity enhancements as well as positive measures taken to enhance the safety and welfare of our people and horses.”
Voting for Racecourse of the Year will remain open until 12 noon next Wednesday, November 20th.
Separately, nominations for Horse Racing Ireland’s Ride of the Year will be announced next week and the winner will be determined by an online poll of racing fans alone. Fran Berry and Davy Russell have picked out six rides to choose from.
