Shaheen Afridi celebrating a wicket with teammates (PCB)
The Pakistan cricket team overpowered hosts Ireland by seven wickets at Dublin in the second T20I to level their three-match series. Opener Mohammad Rizwan and number four Fakhar Zaman played starring roles with the bat, clubbing over 70 runs each in a well-oiled run-chase. Wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan also bashed 30* from just 10 balls to take Pakistan past Ireland’s 193 with more than three overs of the spare.
Earlier in the match, ace paceman Shaheen Afridi led Pakistan’s charge with the ball, taking three key wickets including that of Irish captain Paul Stirling and in-form opener Andy Balbirnie. The speedster also soared past the 300-wicket mark in international cricket through his latest match-winning spell, achieving the same at the age of just 24.
Unfortunately for Shaheen, the significant occasion was also laced with an unpleasant incident involving him as he bumped into an unruly fan while making his way into the field from the dressing room prior to the match.
Shaheen Afridi comes across a rude fan
In a video circulating on social media, a seemingly miffed Shaheen Afridi can be spotted storming away from a horde of Pakistan fans, after one of them had reportedly misbehaved with the speedster.
While the exact nature of the fan’s misconduct is yet to be determined, it irked Shaheen enough to alert nearby security personnel to take immediate action against the culprit.
Shaheen Afridi will now be seen taking field for the Pakistan cricket team in the series-deciding third T20I match against Ireland. The impending decider will also be hosted by Dublin’s Castle Avenue and will be played on May 14.
