Fakhar Zaman, the 34-year-old left-handed opening batter, expressed confidence in the Pakistan cricket team’s ability to compete with any team in the world as they prepare for the second T20I against England at Edgbaston Stadium.

The star batter emphasized the team’s clear mindset and well-defined roles as they look forward to the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan’s New Strategy For T20 Success

Fakhar said during a news conference on Friday.,”Everything is set for the World Cup, and people say a lot of things in the media, Every player, including me, understands his position. We are powerful enough to defeat anyone in the world.”

Fakhar highlighted the team’s attacking approach, a significant shift from their historically conservative play in T20Is.

“As a team, we are clear that we must play attacking cricket, and we recognize that only with this mindset will we have a chance to win the World Cup. “If we bat first [in any match], we know we have to score 200 or more,” he stated.

This mindset change was prompted by a wake-up call during their recent series against Ireland, where Pakistan lost the first T20I. Fakhar mentioned the team’s strategic meeting after this loss.

“After losing the first T20I against Ireland, we met and decided to devise a new strategy.” Playing against a full-strength England team would be critical before the World Cup.”

Pakistan’s recent decision to appoint former Indian coach Gary Kirsten as their head coach for white-ball cricket is part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

The team is currently in England for a three-match T20I series, with the first game washed out due to rain. The second T20I is set for Saturday, May 25.
