US fast food chain Wendy’s is set to arrive in Ireland, as energy and service station company Corrib Oil agrees to become its franchise partner.
The move is expected to create around 300 jobs, with Corrib planning to open 10 Wendy’s restaurants across the country between 2025 and 2027.
The initial locations are expected to be both standalone Wendy’s restaurants, as well as restaurants attached to Corrib service stations.
Local products are tipped to be the preference when it comes to sourcing ingredients, with Wendy’s confirming that they will be using Irish beef exclusively.
The fast food giant – with its headquarters located in Dublin, Ohio – launched in the 1960s, becoming best known for its square burgers, chicken and salad meals and its ‘Frosty’ desserts.
There are currently over 7,200 Wendy’s outlets across the globe, 1,200 of these located outside the US.
Corrib Oil operates 38 convenience stores with forecourts across the country, currently employing 1,150 people.
