‘We’re hopefully going to give them a good game’ – Ireland batter Ross Adair on Ireland taking on India ahead of T20 World Cup 2024 game

Must read

The cricket World Cup fever is on and the fans and all the cricket experts have been waiting for Team India (IND) to start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign through Match 8, on Wednesday, June 5, against Ireland (IRE). The Rohit Sharma-led side hopes to start strongly in the mega ICC event given the nature of the rosters and the significance of the net run rate (NRR) which may decide the team’s chances for the next round in the days ahead.

Before those factors chip in, all eyes are on India’s opening game, and fans are hoping for an entertaining game. On their day, Ireland can give everyone a run for the tickets bought. Besides, the Ireland cricket stars are equally excited to play against the Men in Blue and hope to give tough competition on the tricky pitch of the Nassau County International Stadium in New York. In the same vein, Ireland allrounder Ross Adair shared his thoughts and and said their bunch is excited for the game and are well prepared coming into the game and hopes to give a tough fight to Team India.

“We’re very excited as a group. We’re looking forward to getting out there in New York in the first game and taking the Indian guys on…We know how good the Indian team is and we don’t shy away from that at all. But we’re as prepped and as ready as we’ll ever be and we’re hopefully going to give them a good game,” Adair was quoted as saying by ANI.

We are going to do our best and try to keep them as quiet as possible: Adair

Notably, Ireland are coming into the T20 World Cup 2024 on the back of a sensational win they clinched against Pakistan in the recently concluded series at home. It is worth mentioning that in the previous edition of the mega ICC event, Ireland had caused a massive upset over England. Hence, the Irish side have a knack for surprising even the biggest teams in the world.

However, as Mark Adair further iterated Ireland are well aware of how experienced Team India is and has some big names in their lineup. Notably, the Men In Blue have an electrifying batting and bowling unit, that can turn the tables on them at any given stage in the game. Hence that motivates the European side to put their best foot forward against Team India and try to shackle them by keeping things tight for as long as they possibly can.

“We are very excited about this group. They have a full squad of guys who can turn the game at any stage. We are going to do our best and try to keep them as quiet as possible. But you never know,” Adair concluded.

Ireland’s probable playing XI vs India:

Andy Balbirnie, Paul Stirling (c), Lorcan Tucker, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Craig Young/Ben White, Josh Little
