The business took home two awards on the night.

Smyth’s Homevalue in Enniscorthy had a lot to celebrate as not only were they named the ‘Best Paint Store in Leinster,’ but they also took home the award for being the ‘Best Paint Store in Ireland’ at the United in Excellence Awards 2024.

The United in Excellence awards recognises the very best standards in the hardware sector with a number of businesses across Ireland being honoured for achieving exceptional standards in retail.

Smyth’s Homevalue started out as a small 1,000sq ft store and has grown expeditiously over the years to become a 16,000sq ft store.

Jack and Anna Kavanagh bought the business from the Smyth family in 1979, with their son Dermot and his wife Betty taking over in 1990.

Owner Dermot Kavanagh thanked customers for their continuous loyalty over the years.

“A huge thank you to our incredible team, supportive suppliers, and amazing customers – this wouldn’t be possible without you,” he said.

One of these customers took to social media to say that they were not surprised by the outcome of the awards.

“Not surprised to be honest. A great team and very helpful and friendly to boot. Everyone in Smyths are fantastic and so customer aware. Customer service is second to none,” she wrote.

As part of the nomination process, every group member store across the entire network must comply with a strict set of criteria, to ensure that the highest possible standards are continuously upheld. This involves an assessment by Store Operations which also includes an independent mystery shopper audit by an external third party.

Paul Candon, Group CEO, United Hardware said: “Our United in Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate best-in-class offerings, standards and customer service across the hardware industry.”
