Evan Bailey from New Ross is part of a 13-strong Ireland swimming team heading to Budapest in Hungary from December 10 to 15 for the World Aquatics Championships.
The European finalist from earlier in the year is now under the coaching guidance of John Szaranek and operating out of the National Centre in Limerick, having been nurtured in his rise to prominence by his home-town club.
Olympic finalist Ellen Walshe (Templeogue SC) will lead the team, with Daniel Wiffen and Mona McSharry opting not to compete in Hungary.
The squad also features Olympic semi-finalists Danielle Hill (Larne SC) and Tom Fannon (National Centre Dublin), along with Shane Ryan (National Centre Dublin) and Max McCusker (Millfield School).
Bailey is one of several European championship finalists selected, as well as National Centre Limerick colleagues Jack Cassin, Eoin Corby, John Shortt and Ellie McCartney.
The squad also includes Nathan Wiffen (Loughborough University), Charlotte Cullen (University of Houston), and Niamh Coyne (National Centre Dublin).
