Whelan in the running for Horse Racing Ireland’s Ride of the Year Award – Sport – Kildare Nationalist

Fran Berry and Davy Russell have picked six nominees and it’s now up to racing fans to decide on the winner of the 2024 Horse Racing Ireland Ride of the Year Award.

An online poll will determine the winning ride and the result will be announced at the annual Horse Racing Ireland Awards on Monday, December 2.

Videos of the nominated rides and the link to the dedicated voting webpage can be found on hri.ie and one-click access to the voting page is widely available on Horse Racing Ireland’s social media platforms from today.

Voting will remain open until midnight on next Tuesday, November 26.

Suzanne Eade, CEO of Horse Racing Ireland, said: “Racegoers and racing fans alike have made a significant contribution to choosing the 2024 Racecourse of the Year and now our attention turns to our jockeys and the Horse Racing Ireland Ride of the Year Award. Fran and Davy’s work is done as they have narrowed it down to six rides. It’s now up to everyone else to decide on the winner.” The nominations for the 2024 Horse Racing Ireland Ride of the Year Award are:

RIDE 2 

COLIN KEANE – Charlie Luciano – Dino Day On 10th July Handicap – Fairyhouse, June 7 

RIDE 3 

JJ SLEVIN – Nurburgring – Guinness Galway Hurdle – Galway, August 1 

RIDE 4 

RONAN WHELAN – Dance Night Andday – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Sovereign Path Handicap – Leopardstown, September 14 

RIDE 5

DANNY MULLINS – Real Steel – BoyleSports JT McNamara Munster National Handicap Chase – Limerick, October 20 

RIDE 6 

SHANE FOLEY – Hanalia – Moyglare ”Jewels” Blandford Stakes – Curragh, September 15
