In one of the episodes of the docuseries, Chasing the Sun 2, Rassie Erasmus takes time to remind the Springboks that, with the exception of his video criticism of referee Nic Berry, which went viral during the British and Irish Series in 2021, they don’t talk about the opposition or how they should go about the tricky business of winning Test matches.

Looking at the build-up to the much anticipated two-Test series against Ireland, one could be forgiven for thinking the world champions have rewritten that golden rule somewhat, given how many times the visitors have recently been in their mentions, as the kids say.
