Mohammad Amir made himself available for selection for Pakistan Cricket Team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The preparation to the World Cup has been quite thorough, with a five-match bilateral series against New Zealand, followed by a three-match series against Ireland, and concluded by a four-match tournament against England.
Pakistan’s highlight of the preparatory tournaments has been the return of Mohammad Amir. Amir, Pakistan’s ace left-armer during the 2010s, announced a glorifying return to International cricket, after announcing his retirement from all formats, in 2020.
After staging a comeback for Pakistan against New Zealand in the recent T20I series, Amir’s preparation for the World Cup seems to have come to a halt as he could miss the team’s upcomingv three-match bilateral T20I series against Ireland.

Why will Mohammad Amir miss the T20I series against Ireland?
The Pakistan cricket team are set to arrive in Dublin on Wednesday, ahead of their three-match T20I series against the European minnows.
However, Mohammad Amir, who had just returned to international cricket in the series against New Zealand, failed to travel with the squad to Ireland.
As per an official from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohammad Amir – who is a permanent resident of the United Kingdom – did not receive his visa to Ireland, in time to board the flight, along with the rest of the team. Amir’s participation in the bilateral series is in massive doubt, as he is the only member of the squad to have been left behind.

What next for Mohammad Amir?
Amir hopes his Visa issue gets sorted in time so that he can travel to Ireland to play at least one game.
Meanwhile, there is no news regarding any hassles in Mohammad Amir’s travel to England. After the Ireland tour, Pakistan will cross borders to travel to England, for a four-match T20I series.
The PCB has confirmed that the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup will be announced, only after the inaugural T20I against England on May 22, 2024.
