Windy New Year’s weather warning for parts of Northern Ireland

Must read

As temperatures fall close to freezing, there may be some snow across parts of Northern Ireland on New Year’s Day.

The Met Office had issued a yellow warning for snow in Northern Ireland from 07:00 GMT on New Year’s Day until midnight, but this has now been cancelled.

In the Republic of Ireland, weather warnings for strong winds have been issued for three counties on Tuesday.

Irish weather service Met Éireann is warning of difficult driving conditions for Donegal, Mayo, and Galway.

“The low moving over on Tuesday will bring significant winds to the northwest but rain will be widespread and rather heavy at times too,” said Met Éireann’s Mark Bowe.
