President of Global Affairs at Meta and former UK Deputy Prime Minister of the UK, Nick Clegg, was honoured at the 50th Annual Business & Finance Awards in Dublin.
Mr Clegg was presented with the Sutherland Leadership Award which honours the legacy of Peter Sutherland and recognises international leaders who embody the values of ethical leadership and global impact.
“Europe is in crisis. But as with other crises our continent has endured, I firmly believe that this is also an opportunity to bring Europe closer together,” Mr Clegg said.
“There now appears to be a near universal consensus that Europe’s only future is to throw off the shackles of misplaced regulation, to deepen the single market rather than weaken it, and that to ensure Europe’s own defence we need to generate more wealth ourselves,” he added.
With over 1,000 business, political, and social leaders in attendance, this year’s ceremony highlighted achievements across the corporate landscape while also honouring individuals who have made profound contributions to Ireland and the world.
The awards programme recognised winners across multiple categories, showcasing innovation, sustainability, and leadership.
Champion trainer Willie Mullins received the Outstanding Contribution to Ireland Award for his achievements in Irish sport.
The late Tony O’Reilly was honoured posthumously with the TK Whitaker Award for his significant contributions to Irish business and public life.
Other winners included Combilift from Monaghan, which was named Company of the Year, Harry Hughes, Portwest who won Business Person of the Year, and Sculpted by Aimee which was named Elevation Company of the Year.
“As we celebrate 50 years of the Business & Finance Awards, we honour the remarkable leaders and organisations that shape Ireland’s future,” said Ian Hyland, President and Publisher of Business & Finance.
“This year’s winners exemplify innovation, resilience, and the power of leadership. From industry trailblazers to global changemakers, tonight’s honourees are an inspiration to us all,” Mr Hyland said.
The Business & Finance Awards are supported by KPMG.
“This year’s awards celebrate the very best in Irish business and leadership,” said Seamus Hand, Managing Partner of KPMG.
“The exceptional calibre of our winners reflects the strength, creativity, and ambition that defines our business community,” Mr Hand said.
