Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan (x.com)
Nothing seems working out in favour of Pakistan ever since the ODI World Cup 2023. In the recent T20I series, Pakistan could only level the five-match series against New Zealand under the leadership of Babar Azam.
The star batter has returned to captaincy, five months after his resignation. The 29-year-old stepped down from captaincy after a horrible show in India during the ODI World Cup last year.
Earlier Pakistan faced a humiliating defeat against New Zealand’s half-strength squad and Babar Azam’s captaincy once again faced criticism.
Younis Khan’s Recommendation for Babar and Rizwan Ahead Of T20 WC
In a recent function in Karachi, the former Pakistani captain Younis Khan advised Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman to be together and adapt according to the requirements of modern cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
He also advised that the players must prepare themselves and play at any position in the T20 format and he believes that the bowlers should also make themselves available to bowl in a pressure situation.
“I think our top-order batters like Babar, Rizwan, Fakhar need to now start working on their strike rates and make better use of the power play,” Younis said.
“I don’t think Babar should have expected the white ball captaincy again after the board removed Shaheen Shah Afridi as captain after just one series,” he said on his YouTube channel.
Younis Khan has advised and encouraged the players to be versatile in their positions and to be ready to handle pressure situations. According to him this kind of mindset can go a long way in helping the team succeed in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan is yet to announce their 15-member Squad for the marquee tournament.
